Ukrainian Levkoy
The Ukrainian Levkoy was created in Ukraine from 2004 by crossing the Donskoy with the Scottish Fold, producing a hairless cat with ears that fold inward and downward, and a long angular head that gives it a very distinctive silhouette.
It weighs 3 to 5 kilograms, is slender and long-bodied with loose wrinkled skin, and is described as sociable and gentle. It is not recognised by the major international registries. The breed combines two structural mutations, and it is worth being direct about the second: the fold comes from the Scottish Fold gene, which affects cartilage throughout the body and causes progressive degenerative joint disease in every cat that carries it.

Living with a ukrainian levkoy
The folded ear means the cartilage mutation, and that means osteochondrodysplasia — painful, progressive joint disease affecting the tail, ankles and knees. A cat that jumps less, sits oddly or has a stiffening tail is in pain, not mellowing. Ask a vet for baseline X-rays and expect long-term pain management.
The Donskoy side brings hairlessness linked to ectodermal dysplasia, so watch the teeth from a young age — missing or malformed teeth are reported.
Bathe weekly. Without a coat, oil accumulates in the wrinkles and causes skin problems.
Keep the house warm, provide covered beds, and keep the cat out of unshaded sun.
Ears need frequent gentle cleaning, and the fold restricts airflow, which makes infections more likely.
