Aussiedoodle
The Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle.
It is not a breed and has no standard, so litters vary widely in size, coat and temperament — and crucially, so do first and later generations.
It typically stands 33 to 58 centimetres and weighs 11 to 32 kilograms, living ten to thirteen years. The coat may be curly, wavy or straight, and only the curlier coats shed minimally — the shed-free claim used in marketing is not reliable in any individual puppy. What is reliable is the drive: an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle are both working breeds, and the cross is an intelligent, energetic dog that needs occupation.

Living with a aussiedoodle
Ask for the MDR1 DNA test. Australian Shepherds commonly carry a mutation that makes several ordinary veterinary drugs — including some wormers and sedatives — dangerous or fatal at normal doses. The test costs little and the information can save the dog's life. Tell every vet the result.
Ask about merle. Aussies are often merle, and merle bred to merle produces deaf and blind puppies.
The coat, if curly, needs professional grooming every six to eight weeks plus brushing several times a week, or it mats to the skin. This is the cost most doodle buyers do not anticipate.
No puppy can be promised as hypoallergenic. Meet the actual dog if allergies matter.
Expect a high-drive dog that needs an hour or two of real exercise and training daily.
General guidance, not veterinary advice. Individual dogs vary, and anything about a specific animal is a question for a vet who has seen it.
